First, our apologies on being a little M.I.A. With the holidays, the growing number of inquiries and well, all the comings and goings out at the barn, we got a little sidetracked on our posts. But never fear. We’re back in action and ready to bring you up to speed! (Thank you so much for your patience during our downtime!)
Let’s get started, shall we.
As you might remember, we were highly anticipating the start of a key task in our renovation project – roof removal. Well friends, it is officially underway! Our construction team is ever so carefully removing the current roof, section by section to add insulation and additional support as well as a brand new roof in the coming weeks.
Here you can see the exposed perlins next to the black membrane covering which will protect the interior before the new red roof is added.
You can see here in a completed section of the ceiling that we have left it mostly as is and simply added a black backing behind the wooden perlins to help them really stand out. Up top, check out the little crow's nest we're planning to keep. We love how this enhances the character of the room.
As you can imagine the roof removal is creating some incredible views in the Loft. We are delighted to share with you one exciting feature that will help enhance the natural lighting in the space once the roof is back in place. We are adding big, beautiful glass window panes on both the northern and southern ends of the Loft.
See... at the very top. That is where we are adding the glass window panes to add more natural light to the Loft ballroom. Guests will have the option to blackout these windows with provided drape.
For those of you who have toured, we know you can appreciate the view with all of this natural light!
The Loft is quite a sight to see these days! Here you can better see the exposed light the new glass panes will add to the ballroom.
Downstairs, the progress continues as well. We are happy to report that the meeting rooms, bridal suite, catering kitchen and restrooms are all starting to take shape with framework throughout. This is especially neat for us as we can now walk in and really “feel” the space within the framework. It’s just incredible.
Our downstairs restrooms are starting to take shape! Here is a look at the framework for the individual stalls in the ladies room.
Outside and over to the silos, our future freight elevator and emergency staircase are starting to take shape as well. We’re really enjoying watching the silos be repurposed in this way.
Hopefully you now feel back in the know on the latest at the beautiful old barn. No matter the rain or the snow, we’re still on the move eagerly working towards our big unveil in June.
