Renew Your Annual Conference: A Refreshing Approach

An annual conference has the potential to engineer shared connections and generate new ideas within a group. It may offer a renewing sense of creativity and confidence leading into the upcoming year IF your attendees are engaged throughout. Here are some ways to refresh your annual meeting:

 

1. Food Leads to Friends: We believe that getting a little creative with your food will open up new doors of connection and ultimately leads to a more relaxing, positive atmosphere. This year, instead of opting for the same old sandwich, chips and apple lunch, try adding a snack bar or a local cuisine action station for attendees to enjoy together.
2. Location matters: Choosing a venue is so much more than who has the nicest technology and most state of the art catering service. On top of essential elements, your venue is a creative jumping off point for food, activities, and after-conference networking opportunities. Therefore, it is important to choose a venue that not only meets your logistical needs, but one that lends itself to ingenuity.
3. Add Some Bang to your Break: After each hour and a half of your meeting, attendees should be given at least a 10-15 minute refresher break to shake off their limbs and refocus their minds. Take your break time to a whole new level by inviting in relaxation and/or movement experts to release the tension of a day spent learning inside. After a chair massage or a few yoga stretches, you will have your audience back in the right mindset and they will feel ready to take on the next hour and a half.
4. Mix it up: Try to balance functional free time with your traditional lecture schedule. Friendly competition, team building exercises, and recreational activities are all stress-relieving avenues that get your attendees thinking, creating, and doing. Such exercises provide a chance to regroup before returning to a traditional work-environment.

Whether it’s scheduling in a bike ride around the city, infusing a Zumba session into your break time, or adding a popcorn bar snack to your event, even seemingly small ideas can make the world of difference in renewing your annual conference.
